How to Format the Text Title in MLA
- 1). With your word processor document opened to a blank page, press "Enter" on your keyboard twenty times.
- 2). Type the title of your paper. Capitalize the first letter of each word in your title.
- 3). Press "Enter" twenty times again, or about two inches below your title, type your name.
- 4). Type the teacher's name on the next line, after pressing "Enter" twice. On the next two lines, type the name of the course, and the date, respectively.
- 1). Type your name in the upper left side of the paper, about an inch from the top.
- 2). Press "Enter" twice to double space, and then type your instructor's name. Type the salutation followed by their last name.
- 3). Double space and type your course number.
- 4). Press the "Enter" button on your keyboard two times and type the date. Check with your instructor for specific date formatting instructions. Otherwise, use Day, Month, Year format.
- 5). Double space again, press Control + E at the same time, to center the text and type the Title of your paper. Follow title case when typing: Capitalize the first letter of each word. Double space to an additional line, if the title uses more then one line.
- 6). Double space again, and begin typing the first line of your text. Indent the first word five spaces; Press the space bar five times.
