Home & Garden Pest Control

Pest Control - Preventing and Eliminating Bugs From Your Backyard Oasis!

You've spent thousands of dollars and countless hours making your backyard your very own retreat.
The two-story deck is finally finished, the bulbs of your flowers are starting to bloom and you're ready to pull out the patio chairs and enjoy a nice cold iced tea.
It would be lovely if this scenario was flawless, but in most cases it's realistically not going to happen.
Why, you ask? The simple answer is pests - and lots of them.
If you don't take proper precautions for preventing pests from entering your backyard, you could be signing up for years of mosquito problems, ant farms, wasp nests and more.
Luckily we have tips for preventing these types of insects from ever entering your garden.
1.
Nets.
While mosquito nets aren't always the most attractive backyard accessories one could choose, they are the most effective.
If you don't want mosquitoes, wasps etc.
to enter your garden then consider adding a net.
2.
Spearmint, Southern Wood, Tansy.
Growing plants like spearmint, southern wood and tansy will help prevent insects like ants from infecting your garden and patio area.
If you already have an ant problem, consider splashing vinegar in random areas of your backyard to help eliminate the problem.
3.
Mashed Potato Powder.
We're aware that this seems extremely weird, but if you want to make sure your garden doesn't become infected with rodents (particularly mice), we suggest you throw down some mashed potato powder and place a couple of bowls of water in the surrounding area.
Proven effective in eliminating mice, the little creatures can't help but indulge in a snack but the powder is so dry the mice end up drinking the entire bowls of water, ultimately resulting in fatal bloating.
4.
Citronella Candles and Bug Zappers.
Citronella candles and bug zappers are the most traditional forms of preventing and eliminating pests.
While they don't necessarily prevent insects from entering the area, they do kill them almost immediately - ultimately preventing them from procreating in your backyard.
Citronella candles and bug zappers can be found at any local hardware store and cost less than $20.
We hope our outdoor tips on pest control have helped.
Now you're one step closer to a pest-free home!
