Network Marketing and Direct Sales
Network marketing as a profession came into being in the year 1959 with the setting up of the first network marketing business. This business had a single product and unique vision that allowed companies to rule out the middlemen while doing business.
Initially, people were unwilling to accept the potential of this powerful marketing weapon and there were many people who scoffed at the idea of eliminating the middleman. Despite this opposition, this concept grew like wildfire, and in the recent years, the Network Marketing industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. With a simple concept of selling products face-to face instead of through a shop or other impersonal methods, network marketing laid the foundation for what was later known as Direct Sales. Today, many companies like Amway and Avon have based their success completely on their employment of Network Marketers who employ direct selling.
Today, the Internet has greatly helped matters by allowing the company to sell directly on the Internet and has greatly improved many of the distribution and marketing practices in the industry. The Internet has also made it much easier for online businesses to reach a wider audience and grasp the public's attention.
