Edge earned a title shot at this event by virtue of winning the 2010 Royal Rumble Match. Edge chose to face Chris Jericho at this show because of the way their championship tag team ended last year. Edge suffered a torn Achilles tendon and was forced to vacate the title. Jericho spent months insulting him for being selfish because he got injured. Determined to get revenge on his former partner, Edge made a surprise return to the ring at the Royal Rumble several months before he was expected to return and has set his eyes on giving his former partner the spear and taking away his title.
