Field Sobriety Test

Definition: A group of tests used by police to determine if a driver is impaired. The tests assess balance, coordination and the ability of the driver to divide his attention to more than one task.

Also Known As: Walk a Straight Line, Walk and Turn Test

Examples: Although the officer smelled alcohol, the driver passed the field sobriety test. So the officer let the driver go.
