Why Are Hersey Kisses Shaped Like Apollo Space Capsules? - I Love Space!

Have you ever notice when you open up a Hershey kiss wrapped in a little piece of aluminum with a little thin iconic Hersey flag sticking out the top, that they are shaped like the Apollo space capsules? That is interesting isn't it? And just as everyone loves Hershey kisses, and who doesn't like chocolate - the world is also enamored by the potential of human spaceflight.
And right now, the privatization of space exploration, tourism, mining, and technology is being born.
This is a great time for technology and space, and it is a great time to be alive.
It's a great time to explore the great taste of chocolate and the final frontier of space.
There is an old Chinese proverb; "may you live in interesting times," and nothing is more interesting than space, our solar system, our Sun, our galaxy, and the universe.
Being able to see it, understand it, and know our place in it is fascinating.
It's almost as good as chocolate.
The Hershey Chocolate Company is an American tradition, but so is the quest for space, and the need to explore, it is part of the human endeavor, and it is part of who we are as Americans.
As we enter the next generation of space, we have many countries competing in the space race, and they are building space ports, rocket ships, robotic exploration vehicles, and they are making plans to put their countrymen on the moon, develop colonies, mine asteroids, and build a protective shields to protect us against "Near Earth Objects" or NEOs.
If the dinosaurs that lived 400 million years here on the planet had such technologies, they could have prevented their own extinction.
If humans are able to do that in the future, they will have proved themselves as a species, as strong, or as well suited as even the dinosaurs.
Of course, I bet you'd rather talk about chocolate? Everyone loves chocolate, and every young man at one time or another has wanted to be an astronaut, it's an automatic response, just like at some point every young boy wants to be a firefighter.
We know that the way that Hersey kisses are made, the way they are manufactured, with a drop of chocolate falling onto a plate, to form the shape of an Apollo space capsule - allows the company to continue to create its signature product as efficient as possible.
Today, we have bettered the shape of the Apollo space capsule for reentry, with our new reusable space vehicles, and space shuttle.
But we know the shapes we have used in past periods also work.
Whether you are eating a chocolate candy bar, breaking off a piece of Hershey chocolate, or watching an old clip of an Apollo space capsule, they are reminder of just how far we've come.
Indeed, hope you will please consider this.
