The Bottom Line
If you can find a copy of Champions: A Love Story to view, you will enjoy a very moving figure skating story. The skating and acting in the movie is not that good, but that doesn't really matter. The story shows how even after a tragedy, that life does go on and memories will always be with us.

Guide Review - Champions: A Love Story
This movie was made for television in 1979. Jimmy McNicol, the brother of the child star Christy McNicol, plays a hockey player that becomes a figure skater. He is paired up with actress Joy Leduc who plays a young single skater that must consider pairs since she is not making it in that branch of figure skating.
The two become friends and fall in love as they train. Then, McNicol is killed in a plane crash, but Leduc somehow perseveres and skates again in singles. The movie ends on a happy note.
