A Day on the Boardwalk
They may be nothing I enjoy more than spending a summer afternoon on one of the boardwalks along the Jersey shore.
Maybe it is having spent many summers vacationing there as a child, that explains my yearly draw to the Jersey shore boardwalks.
It is inevitable as the seasons change and the days are getting warmer and longer, that I make a pilgrimage to the Jersey shore boardwalk.
Every year a few shops may have changed but the overwhelming majority remains the same.
It is this consistency that makes the boardwalk such a yearly treat.
Besides the arcades, mini-golf, and assorted beach shops, the highlight for me is the food.
The boardwalks of the Jersey shore teem with food of all sorts.
The wonderful smell coming from all the businesses in close proximity is what first greets you as you wander in front of the stores.
One would think this mix of smells to be unappealing but quite the contrary it is heavenly.
The hardest choice is where to start.
Should it be the boardwalk French fries or pizza? Maybe wash it down with an ice cold coke or strawberry banana smoothie? Whatever the days choice is, the possibilities are endless.
Here are some of my recommendations on where to eat along the boardwalk of Ocean City.
Ocean City you have to make room for Mack & Manco's Pizza and Johnson's Caramel Corn, these two are perhaps the highlights of the boardwalk.
Besides pizza and caramel corn, be sure to save room for ice cream.
The Ocean City New Jersey offers many varieties of ice cream.
Personally I recommend Kohr Brothers, they have three locations in Ocean City.
Often I am reminded by friends about the delicious boardwalk french fries.
If you love french fries then you will definitely find some to your liking.
Thick and thin and with or without cheese, fries abound on the boardwalk.
After spending a day gorging myself on the delicious food offered by the Ocean City boardwalk, it is time to retreat back into the beach house, savor the smell of the salt air on the breeze, and relax into a comfortable chair as the sounds of the ocean lap at the beach.
