How to Soften Grey Hair

    • 1). Wash your hair with a moisturizing, clarifying shampoo. Take care to massage your scalp while shampooing to stimulate blood flow to your hair follicles and give them needed nutrients and oxygen.

    • 2). Apply a protein-based conditioner to strengthen your hair follicles. Whenever possible, let the conditioner set for 30 minutes under a towel wrap before rinsing with warm water.

    • 3). Feed your hair the nutrients it needs to stay soft and healthy. Take a daily multivitamin containing essential minerals and eat foods that are high in protein and iron.

    • 4). Drink at least eight glasses of water each day to keep your grey hair from drying out and becoming brittle.

    • 5). Air-dry your hair whenever you can to avoid overheating it. Do not use harsh styling methods like perms or relaxers on your grey hair.

    • 6). Use a deep conditioning treatment once a week to moisturize your grey hair and keep it soft.

    • 7). Coat your grey hair with a clear gloss or glaze once a month to strengthen the hair cuticles and improve shine.
