How to Activate an Alltel Phone & Get a New Number
- 1). Turn over your cell phone. Remove the cover and battery. Locate the ESN number, underneath the battery. Write down this number and replace the battery.
- 2). Replace the battery cover. Plug the power adapter into your phone and a wall socket. Allow it to charge fully.
- 3). Contact Alltel at 800-ALLTEL1. Enter your current mobile number and follow the prompts to speak with a customer service representative.
- 4). Tell the representative that you would like to activate your old phone. Provide your full name, ESN number and current mobile number. Specify that you want a new mobile number.
- 5). Turn off your cell phone when prompted. Dial *228 into your phone's keypad. Press "2" to activate your phone. The process should take a few minutes. You will receive text notification when activation is successful.
