Videocon V1616- Blending Style With Features
Style, apart from functionality, is the mantra if you want to grab more eyeballs and draw customers to buy your products. Videocon seems to be following the diktat and has made strong efforts to add handsets loaded with oomph to its armoury. The company has now launched another device called the V1616 in the market. Carved entirely from metal, the handset sports a 2.4 inch TFT screen on the front. The device is a dual SIM (GSM+GSM) Dual Standby enabled handset and has been carved entirely out of metal. A black coloured alphanumeric keypad has been provided below the screen on the V1616. The keypad is comfortable to use and buttons are well spaced. The spines and battery cover also follows minimalist design. The back panel of the V1616 and has a 2.0-megapixel camera with loudspeaker grill on the upper portion. The user interface has been tweaked up a bit to add a feeling of novelty.
Coming to the feature side, Videocon V1616 comes loaded with quite a few goodies. The mainstay features of the handset are a 2.0 mega pixel camera, which is capable of taking pictures at a maximum resolution of 1200x1600 pixels. The image quality can be set to low, normal or high, depending upon the space available. Lack of flash is a letdown, but overall, the camera gives decent pictures. The video recording capabilities are also good.
The audio quality of the V1616 is good, both through the speakers as well as through the headset. Again on the downside, the handset lacks 3.5 mm jack, limiting you to use proprietary headsets only. The FM lacks an inbuilt antenna so you need to plug in the headset to tune in to the stations.
For connectivity, the phone is GPRS enabled and settings for all major operators come preloaded. The phone also has inbuilt browser to surf the web. We found the browsing experience to be satisfactory. The handset also has Bluetooth, which supports A2DP profile. The handset is dual SIM enabled, but you can use only one SIM at a time and the other SIM appears out of reach. A battery rated at 1800 mAh provides sufficient juice to last a day of average usage.
