How to Turn Off a Payne Gas Furnace
- 1). Close the external manual gas valve handle by rotating it clockwise to a closed position.
- 2). Locate the front side access panel of your Payne gas furnace. Shutting the furnace down this way while in operation presents no danger.
- 3). Locate the knob with an on/off setting on the top left-hand side of the unit.
- 4). Turn the knob to the off setting. You should hear the sound of the internal flames extinguish if the unit is in operation.
