How to Remember the Holocaust
- 1). Get the facts. Research the Holocaust through literature and books that discuss the Holocaust as a whole. There are a variety of memoirs that have been written which can help to expand your views on the array of activities that make up the Holocaust. Many World War II books are likely to discuss the Holocaust in depth. Visit your local library or bookstore and search the war section or the world history section for ideas.
- 2). Remember the Holocaust by visiting Holocaust sites overseas or established memorials, such as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C. Most memorials and sites offer tours which include guides. The guides will share unique information with you and will be able to provide you with ideas for useful literature or online sources that you can read in order to expand your knowledge.
- 3). Enroll in a Holocaust literature or Holocaust history course. Many colleges offer courses specifically on the Holocaust. Whether you are a student or not, with permission, you may be able to sit in on a class. There will most likely be a fee, but even if you aren't enrolled, you may still be able to attend lecture and participate in classroom discussions.
- 4). Give a presentation about the Holocaust, or become a known Holocaust speaker. Talk to your local schools or organizations that might be interested in hearing your knowledge and ideas. Sharing your knowledge is a great way to remember the Holocaust as you are keeping the memory alive by educating others. Let people know that you are available and willing to give a presentation.
