How to Remove Dry Skin From Elbows

    • 1). Dampen your elbows with warm water. Use an exfoliating cream that has rough beads in it to slough off the dry, dead skin that's causing your elbows to be dry. Scrub well and rinse off until clean.

    • 2). Mix your own exfoliating agent if you don't have one on hand. Take 1/2 cup sugar and add enough water to make a paste that has a consistency that's similar to toothpaste. Using your fingers, scoop up the paste and rub onto your elbows to slough off the dry skin. Rinse carefully.

    • 3). Choose a rich moisturizer that contains ingredients like vitamin E, aloe vera, cocoa butter and olive oil to infuse the fresh skin on your elbows with a much-needed dose of moisture. Apply the moisturizer generously.

    • 4). Wrap the area of the elbow in plastic wrap to create a warm, enclosed environment in which your elbows can absorb the moisture. Doing this before bed is a good idea; you can then remove the plastic wrap when you wake up. Don't wrap it so tight that you cut off circulation---make it just tight enough to protect your clothing and furniture from the moisturizer.

    • 5). Continue to moisturize with a thick moisturizer each time you shower. Your skin absorbs moisture more easily after a shower, when your pores are open, making it the ideal time to add some cream to your elbows to maintain their smooth appearance.
