How to Seal Cracked Concrete Before Laying New Floors
- 1). Take everything off the floor that can be removed, and then sweep the floor, removing all dirt and dust.
- 2). Pour concrete degreaser into a garden sprayer. Spray the degreaser over the entire concrete surface.
- 3). Wait 15 minutes for the degreaser to break up the stains and oily substances.
- 4). Scrub the floor with a nylon brush. Then rinse away the degreaser with a hose. Wait at least 24 hours for the concrete to dry before repairing the cracks.
- 5). Chisel open the cracks, making them a uniform 1/2 inch in width.
- 6). Brush out the chiseled concrete with a wire brush.
- 7). Pour concrete bonding liquid into a small bucket, and spread it inside the cracks with a small paintbrush.
- 8). Mix the concrete powder with water as instructed on the packaging until it has the consistency of pancake batter.
- 9). Transfer the wet concrete from the bucket into the cracks in the floor with a trowel. The pointed end of the trowel can be used to pack the concrete into the cracks.

Sweep the trowel over the cracks so that the wet concrete is level with the floor. - 11
Wait 48 hours for the repaired cracks to cure. - 12
Pour concrete sealer into a paint tray, and then roll it onto the repaired concrete floor with a standard paint roller. Allow the sealer to dry for 48 hours before laying your new floor.
