DIY Gnat Trap

    • 1). Cut the top 1/3 of a 2-liter plastic bottle to create two separate pieces. Turn the top half upside down and place it, inverted, into the bottom half of the bottle. Secure the pieces together with tape around the edges.

    • 2). Place any of the following into the bottom of the bottle: sugar water, apple cider vinegar, red wine, orange juice, or other fruit juice or beer.

    • 3). Add a few drops of liquid dish detergent to the attractant you have chosen. This will help drown the gnats. While gnats can easily fly into the trap, they have a difficult time escaping, thus making this an effective gnat trap.

    • 4). Change the liquid in the bottom of the bottle every few days. You may need more than one trap, depending on how severe your gnat problem is.
