Rules for Carry-on Luggage
- Passengers are allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item such as a briefcase, purse, laptop computer, umbrella, backpack or camera bag.
- Airlines have differing size requirements for carry-on bags; bags that do not exceed 45 combined inches are universally accepted by all airlines. Check your airline's official website for requirements.
- 3.4 oz. bottles are mandatory for all liquids; the bottles should be placed in a clear, 1-qt. zip-top bag. Travelers are only allowed one 1-qt. bag.
- Liquids that exceed 3.4 oz. are not allowed through the security checkpoint. Liquids that violate this requirement will be discarded during the security screening process.
- Firearms, sharp objects, explosive materials, flammable items, martial arts weaponry and sporting goods are not allowed in carry-on luggage.
- Many airlines do not have a specific weight limit for carry-on luggage on domestic flights. However, international flights have very low weight limits.
