How to Fire a 98K Rifle With Iron Sights
- 1). Engage the safety at the second position. Note: Safety switch contains three settings. The directions listed are when viewed from the back of the rifle. The first is "safe with bolt locked" where the lever is facing to the right, the second is "Safe with bolt unlocked" where the lever is facing upward, and the third is "Fire" where the lever is facing to the left.
- 2). Pull the bolt up and to the rear to open the chamber.
- 3). Load the ammo into the integral box magazine. This can be done either by loading each round individually or through the use of five-round stripper clips. Loading via a stripper clip is described in step 4; otherwise proceed to step 5.
- 4). Insert the stripper clip into the feed grooves in the receiver and press the top round down, feeding all of the rounds into the box magazine. Remove the stripper clip once all rounds are loaded.
- 5). Carefully close the bolt. This will insert the first round into the chamber.

Proper Sight Picture
Raise the rifle, placing the butt tightly against your shoulder and line up the iron sights on your target. The front sight should be level with the top of the rear sight and centered in the notch of the rear sight. (see image for proper sight picture.)
Note: Keep your finger off the trigger until you are actually about to fire. - 7). Disengage the safety and take final aim at your target.
- 8). Squeeze the trigger.
- 9). Pull the bolt up and back to eject the first round and cycle the second round to be loaded into the chamber.
- 10
Return the bolt forward and down to chamber the round and repeat the process until you are done shooting.
