- 1). Remove the grates from the stove.
- 2). Scrub off any easily removable debris with a scouring pad.
- 3). Fill a bucket with very hot water. Add 2 tbsp. of liquid detergent and 1/2 cup of ammonia per gallon of hot water.
- 4). Soak the grates for one half hour.
- 5). Remove the grates and scrub them until clean. If any residue remains, make a fresh hot water bath. Then soak and scrub them again.
- 6). Rinse the grates with very hot water. Then lay them out to air dry. For quicker drying, place them in an oven preheated to 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.
