• Waskom is located in the Piney Wood Region of Texas. You will notice plenty of rolling hills surrounded with pine trees. It is a small town spanning less than three miles of land with an estimate of 3,000 people. Temperature averages at about 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but can reach up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer months
  
  

Nearby Recreational Activities

• Since Waskom is a small town, locals and guests visit nearby towns for a variety of outdoor activity, such as Uncertain and Jefferson, Texas. You can take a 25-minute drive to Caddo Lake in Uncertain to water ski, fish and watch wildlife. Or, play a game of golf at the Rusty Rail Golf Course or hunt whitetail deer in Jefferson.
  
  

Camp on the Border

• You can park your RV at Miss Ellie’s RV Park, which provides a quiet and relaxing atmosphere surrounded with plenty of pine trees. Miss Ellie’s RV Park offers 100 feet pull-through sites able to accommodate large rigs, slide-outs, pop up campers and trailers. Amenities include full hookups with 20-, 30- and 50-amp electricity, free Internet service, cable hookups and phone connections. Facilities consist of a coin-operated laundry room, dump station, fitness center and restrooms with showers. Guests pay $30 per day as of 2010. Local attractions include Gators and Friends, the Garden of the American Rose Center and Sci-Port Discovery Center within 20 minutes from the RV park. For a bite to eat visit the Catfish Village, Hillside Cafe and Simple Simon's Pizza less than a mile from the recreational park.
  
  

Camp at a State Park

• Spend time camping at Caddo Lake State Park with lush foliage and bald cypress, approximately a 20-mile drive from Waskom. The campground offers 46 campsites, eight screened shelters and nine cabins from the 1930's. Some campsites come with water only, full hookups or with electric and water hookups only. Amenities include picnic tables, grills and fire rings. The camping rate ranges from $8 to $20 per site, as of 2010. You have access to a dump station, playground, restrooms, boat launch and showers. You can canoe on the lake or hike on the nature trail. Campers typically enjoy watching more than 200 species of birds and fish in the lake that includes 71 types of fish. Attractions within 15 minutes include the Flea Market in Uncertain, Texas and Civil War reenactment in Jefferson. If you do not feel like cooking, try Pelican Lodge Catfish Restaurant and Gotta Pizza within 15 miles from the park.
  
  

Camp by a Pond

• Country Pines RV Park is approximately 20 miles from Waskom in the middle of Marshall and Jefferson, Texas. When you walk on the grounds, you notice the dirt road, the pond, large pine trees and miles of hiking trails. This family-owned campground offers full hookups with 30- or 50-amp electricity. Amenities include free Internet, showers, a dump station and restrooms. The cost ranges from $20 to $22 per night as of 2010. Activities include onsite fishing. Dining options within five miles include Chili’s, Cajun Tex and Subway. Pick up groceries within a 10-minute drive at Pay-n-Save and Super One Foods. Plan to visit area attractions, such as Atalanta Railcar in Jefferson and Michelson Museum of Art within 10 miles from the RV park.
