Did you know that roses can be pruned almost all year round avoiding the frosts obviously to ensure they remain healthy and can flower almost all year round adding that wonderful color and smell to your garden. The Pruning of roses should include the following remove all dead stems at the base and when pruning the upper flowering stems you should cut above the section where the leaf is growing this allows new growth from that section.
Roses can develop a disease called black leaf to treat this fresh grass cuttings can be placed around the root this will stop all the disease but can take some time to see the results so keep persevering with the treatment. Also you should put fresh manure at the start of the season to top up on all those nutrients used from growing those beautiful roses
Lawn maintenance lawns need a weed and feed twice a year once the start of the season and again at the end of the season to ensure that the grass is green and lust and to also reduce the amount of weeds present in the lawn also scarifying helps to reduce the amount of moss building up and creating spare patches of lawn that if left untreated will need to be reseeded.
Did you know that tulips planted in the garden add wonderful color to existing flower beds but also duplicate over time if there is enough room in the flower bed.
Pansies add wonderful color and if you look at the flower of some of them they actually have a face shape on the flower these also duplicate over time if you collect the seeds when they are about to reproduce you can have a supply of pansies all the time just with a little effort of planting the seeds in the green house.
Patio maintenance the best way of revitalizing an old patio is to high pressure wash the slabs no need for chemicals just high pressure about 210 bar is the maximum you would need, this will bring back to life your patio and eliminate the need to replace your expensive patio.
Choosing patio materials Indian Stone is one of the most resilient at withstanding attack from moss and algae because the material non porous which makes it harder for moss and algae to attach to the patio, also whilst doing this it resists attack from frosts because of its hardness. The colors in Indian stone are amazing from slabs with ingrain red fossils which are amazing to the cream buff color almost beige and pastel colors are really designer paving slabs while fitting in with the surrounding environmental landscape.
