How to Store Apples to Make Apple Pie Later

    • 1). Store the apples in a cool basement in a breathable sack or a cardboard box. For the best tasting apples to cook with, apples need a cool place with a good amount of moisture, such as a basement.

    • 2). Store the apples in the refrigerator if the basement will not work. The refrigerator is the next best thing, as long as it is set between 35 and 40 degrees F.

    • 3). Store the apples far away from cheese, greens, meats, onions and potatoes. Apples will absorb the odors from these foods and vice versa. Also, onions and potatoes emit a gas that will make the apple spoil faster. Use the crisper if you are placing the apples in the refrigerator, and keep the apples on the other side of the basement if you are storing potatoes or onions as well.
