Dodge RAM 3500 4X4 Specifications

The Dodge Ram 3500 4X4 pickup truck is the largest light-duty pickup the automaker offers. The 3500 is a one-ton model that also is available as a two-wheel drive. The smallest Ram pickup is the half-ton 1500 and the three-quarter-ton 2500. The 2011 Ram 3500 is available in the base ST trim level, the mid-range SLT and the luxury-oriented Laramie edition. - The 2011 Ram 3500 4X4 comes with one engine. The turbocharged 6.7-liter Cummins in-line six-cylinder diesel engine features four valves per cylinder and delivers fuel from a 35-gallon tank via a diesel common rail fuel injection system. The Cummins diesel generates 350 horsepower and 650 ft.-lbs. of torque. The massive torque and 3.42:1 gear ratio allow the Ram 3500 to have a payload capacity, which includes passengers and a full cargo box, of up to 5,130 lbs. The Ram 3500's towing capacity is 17,600 lbs. The Cummins diesel features an integrated diesel exhaust brake, which is the same technology found in tractor-trailer rigs that helps engine brake the vehicle. Dodge complements the Cummins diesel with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
- The 2011 Ram 3500 4X4 is constructed with an ultra-stiff hydroformed frame with hydromounts filled with fluid placed between the cab and frame for a smooth ride. The front suspension is a rigid front beam system with coil springs and stabilizer bar, with the rear a rigid beam system with high-strength steel leaf springs. A Hotchkiss rear suspension is optional. The 4X4 features all-wheel ventilated disc brakes, electronic brake distribution and four-wheel anti-locking braking system.
- The Ram 3500 4X4 is available in a regular cab and three types of crew cab configurations. The regular cab version sits on a 140.5-inch wheelbase and is 230.4 inches long, 78.9 inches wide -- 92.2 inches wide when including the external rear fenders/wheel wells -- and 73.9 inches tall. The frame clears the ground by 7.7 inches. The cargo box is 98.3 inches long, 60.4 inches wide and 20.2 inches tall. Inside the cab, there is 40.3 inches of headroom, 62.9 inches of hip room, 41 inches of legroom and 66 inches of shoulder room. The MegaCab version, with a 6-foot, 4-inch long cargo box, is on a 160-inch wheelbase and is 248.4 inches long. The crew cab version, with a 6-foot, 4-inch long cargo box, is placed on a 149.5-inch wheelbase and measures 237.4 inches long. The largest of all Ram 3500 models, the crew cab with 8-foot cargo box, occupies a 169.5-inch wheelbase and is 259.4 inches long. The dimensions of the crew cab versions, including the MegaCab, vary by 1 to 2 inches from the regular cab.
- Standard features for the 2011 Ram 3500 include front and rear chrome bumpers, exterior power and heated mirrors, luxury chrome and alloy-style trim, six-speaker satellite AM/FM/CD/MP3 radio, cruise control, exterior temperature gauge and compass. Other standard equipment includes three-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners, front seat center armrest, power window and door locks, front curtain airbags accompanying the standard driver and front passenger airbags and cloth upholstery.
