Packing List for a Warm Climate

    Toiletries

    • You don't need much for toiletries in a warm climate. Pack the staples, like toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, some hair ties for long hair and a razor. If you plan to spend any time outside, pack sunscreen and some aloe vera gel just in case you get a sunburn.

    Shoes

    • Pack a pair of athletic shoes if you plan to go sightseeing or do any physical activities. Bring a pair of flip-flops to wear by the pool or beach, and a nice pair of sandals for when you go out. Women can pack a pair of heels, but coordinate your outfits so you don't have to bring several different shoes. They can take up a lot of space.

    Bottoms

    • Women should pack two pairs of pants just in case the evenings are chilly or damp. Men should pack three pairs, as some restaurants and clubs will not allow you in without your legs covered. If you like to lounge in your hotel room, bring a pair of sweat pants or pajama bottoms.

Pack a pair of shorts or a lightweight skirt for every two days you'll be traveling. Remember to follow the regional dress code, as some areas frown on women showing their legs or wearing pants or shorts. Keep the colors neutral to make mixing outfits easy.

    Tops

    • Pack one short-sleeved shirt for every two days you'll be traveling, unless you expect to get dirty or sweaty. In that case, pack a short-sleeved shirt for every day. Women can include tank tops or strapless shirts in their short-sleeved category, and men should include at least one collared shirt in their short-sleeved selection.

Pack two long-sleeved shirts for chilly nights and windy conditions. Have one be lighter weight, like an Oxford-style button down, and have the other be the thickness of a sweatshirt.

    Evening Wear

    • Only pack evening wear/formal wear if you have plans to use it. Chances are you'll have something in your suitcase suitable for most occasions.

    Exercise Gear

    • Only pack workout clothes if you plan to exercise. If you regularly work out, pack enough clothes to get you through half of your workouts, then wash them in the sink and hang to dry or use a laundry service.

    Swimming Suits

    • Pack at least two swimming suits, even if you only plan on being in the warm climate for a few days. This gives one time to dry out when you use the other. Pack a cover-up, too.
