Will Smith, The Actor

Will Smith, or Willard Christopher "Will" Smith Jr. to be exact, was born on September 25, 1968. He was also known by his stage name, The Fresh Prince. He is an American actor, producer, and rapper, but is mainly known for his acting roles. He has enjoyed tremendous success throughout his career in television, film and music. In April 2007, an American publication called him the most powerful actor in Hollywood. In his career to date Will Smith has been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, two Academy Awards, and has won multiple Grammy awards for his music.
In the late 1980s, Will Smith achieved modest fame as a rapper under the name The Fresh Prince. In 1990, his popularity increased dramatically when he starred in the popular television series €The Fresh Prince of Bel Air€. The show ran for nearly six years (1990€"1996) on American TV channel NBC and has been aired consistently on various networks since that time. In the mid-1990s, Will turned his acting skills to the big screen, and ultimately starred in numerous Hollywood bestsellers. Smith is the only actor to have eight consecutive films gross over $100 million in the domestic box office and the only actor also to have eight consecutive films in which he starred open at Number 1 spot in the domestic box office tally.
Fourteen of the nineteen fiction films Will Smith has acted in have made worldwide earnings of over $100 million, and four took in over $500 million in global box office sales. In 2011, his films had grossed $5.7 billion in global box office. His most financially successful films have been Bad Boys, Bad Boys 2, Independence Day Men In Black Men In Black 2, (and soon going to come out is Men In Black 3), I Robot, I am Legend, Hancock, Wild Wild West Enemy Of The State, Shark Tale, Hitch and Seven Pounds. He also earned critical praise for his performances in Six Degrees Of Seperation, Ali and The Pursuit Of Happyness. He also received the best actor Oscar nominations for the latter two performances.
Will Smith started his career as the MC of the hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince as well as Ready Rock C (Clarence Holmes) as the human beat box. The trio was known for performing humorous, radio-friendly songs, most notably €Parents Just Don't Understand€ and €Summertime€ They gained critical acclaim and won the first Grammy awarded in the Rap category in1988.
Smith spent money freely during his early career and got into hot water with the American tax collector, the Internal Revenue Service (I.R.S) when he underpaid his income taxes. The IRS eventually issued a claim against him for $2.8 million and repossessed many of his personal belongings. Smith was virtually bankrupt in 1990, when his fortunes took an upward turn. The American TV station NBC signed Will to a contract and built the sitcom €The Fresh Prince Of Belair€ around Will Smiths character €The Fresh Prince€. The show was very popular and a great success and launched his acting career. Will Smith is a dedicated professional. He trains extremely hard for all of his roles and he is in fantastic physical condition.
