How to Make Hair Dye Fade
- 1). Wash hair with regular shampoo. Normal shampoo that you can pick up for a dollar or two will strip the color from your hair. Start with washing your hair with cheap shampoo. Repeat this three or four times using conditioner in between. The conditioner will help prevent any damage to your hair. When you are finished, put leave-in conditioner in your hair and leave it on for an hour.
- 2). Blow dry your hair to check the color. If it is not faded enough, wash your hair with Prell or dandruff shampoo. Like Prell, dandruff shampoo is harsher than normal shampoo. After you wash your hair with with the Prell or dandruff shampoo, condition it again. Your hair dye should be starting to fade considerably. Dry your hair again to check if the color has faded enough. If your hair is still darker than you would like proceed to step 3.
- 3). Put Dawn dish soap in your dry hair. Starting with your roots, saturate your hair with Dawn dish soap. Leave the dish soap in your hair and wrap your head in a towel. Leave the dish soap in your hair for 30 to 40 minutes. Rinse out the soap and condition your hair.
- 4). Place leave in conditioner in your hair and leave in overnight. This will help prevent any damage that repeatedly washing your hair can do. Wash hair as normal in the morning and make sure to condition it. Once hair is dry you will see that it is a lot lighter. Resume your normal hair care routine.
