How to Make an Alcohol Compress Using a Freezer

- 1). Mix the water and alcohol together. Place 2 cups of water into a large measuring cup and add 1 cup of rubbing alcohol. Although you can substitute 80 proof vodka, rubbing alcohol is cheaper.
- 2). Pour the alcohol and water mixture into a one gallon-size plastic bag, then place that bag inside another gallon-size plastic bag. The alcohol will prevent the water from freezing solid; the pliability of the semi-frozen mix allows it to gently surround an injury.
- 3). Place the double-bagged mixture into the freezer for 24 hours. Once it's semi-frozen, it's ready to use. Before applying it to an injury, wrap it in a towel. The cold will seep through the towel, and it will be easier to hold.
