Celebrate Christmas with an imaginative art activity. You can help your child to craft a cute gingerbread man-inspired project to decorate your home, send to grandparents or simply keep as a holiday memento. Choose an art project based on your child's age and interests. Add festive paints, glitter and more for a fabulous holiday craft.

    Gingerbread Man Garland

    • Create a crafty gingerbread man garland with simple art supplies such as construction paper, glue and glitter. According to the Craft Elf website, simply cut a strip of brown paper, place a gingerbread man pattern or stencil onto the paper and trace it, fold the paper accordion style and cut around the lines. Open the accordion and decorate the gingerbread men with ribbon, pom poms, crayons, googly eyes and more.

    Gingerbread Man Bag Puppet

    • Transform a simple brown lunch bag using markers, paints and glue to design a gingerbread man puppet that can be used for hours of creative play. Start with a plain bag and draw a gingerbread man shape onto the outside. Another option is to cut a circle shape from a piece of brown construction paper and glue it to the top of the bag. Cut four long rectangles and glue to the sides as arms and legs. Make a smiling mouth and eyes using a marker or tempera paints. Add felt, glitter or any other craft material as extra decoration.

    Gingerbread Man Sculpture

    • Use modeling clay to create a three-dimensional gingerbread man. Start with brown clay and roll and mold it into a gingerbread man shape. Teach older kids an extra lesson in art by adding an armature. You can buy thin-gauge wire at an art or craft store. Fold the wire into a skeletal gingerbread man armature. Simply twist the wire into a stick man shape, then cover with clay. This approach may be too difficult for a younger child. Early grade school- and pre-school-aged kids can work with the clay only. Add colored bits of clay as eyes and a mouth, and faux candy buttons.
