The 2011 Mayoral Inaugural Festivities

The 2011 Mayor Inaugural festivities for Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel will start on Saturday, May 14th, with a city-wide day of community service, followed by a free concert and activities at Grant Park, and the official swearing in of Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel on Monday, May 16.

Day of Service - Saturday, May 14, from 9:00 a.m. to noon:

More than 20 opportunities to volunteer for various Chicago projects, including planting flowers and picking up trash.


Free Concert and Activities - Saturday, May 14, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.:

Family-friendly activities will be held at Grant Park's Butler Field, including yoga, soccer, hockey, vegetable-seed giveaways, health screenings, and more. Admission is free. Tickets for the concert are required by signing up at Chicago Together.

Swearing in of Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel - Monday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m.:

The swearing in of the Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel, City Clerk-elect Susana Mendoza, Treasurer Stephanie Neely, and City Council will be held at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. The event is open to the public.

Open House with Mayor Rahm Emanuel - Monday, May 16, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.:

Mayor Emanuel will host an open house on the 5th floor of City Hall following the swearing-in ceremony. As Emanuel's office says: "This is an opportunity for Chicago’s 46th Mayor to greet his constituents and members of the public."
