How to Report Unemployment to the Family Subsistence Supplemental Allowance (FSSA)
- 1). Report your unemployment changes during your annual re-certification if the change occurs within 30 days prior to Feb. 1. Your re-certification documents will be mailed to you during the month of January and must be completed and submitted before Feb. 1.
- 2). Report your unemployment changes to the personnel services department for your branch of the military if the change occurs outside of the re-certification window. Depending on your branch of the military, personnel services may be able to complete the entire process of reporting your unemployment changes, or they may help you fill out the form and have you submit it to the appropriate contact in the chain of command for your division. Either way, they will be able to guide you through the entire process.
- 3). Log into your account on the DMDC website if you need to re-certify, but are unable to go to your personnel department (see Resource). You'll need to enter your Social Security number, date of birth and last name to access your account. After you're logged in, you can update your information using the report changes form.
