7 Simple Reasons You"re Struggling With Your Goals
7 reasons why you are still struggling with your goals...
Making improvements to your health and fitness can cause plenty of frustration and you can find yourself going round in circles searching for the right ways to get started.
I've spent years working as a coach and have spent hundreds of hours with clients that have been through the same frustrations that you experience.
Looking back at the people I've met and the conversations I've had there were some common areas that kept propping up which I am going to look at here in this article.
Below is a list of the 7 most common frustrations and what you can do to combat them...
1.
I can't fit in the time.
Yes even after all the advice there now is on how you can cut your training time down 'fitting in time to train' is what I found to be the number one frustration.
What you can do about it? I can guarantee you spend at least an hour a day wasting your time messing around online plus at least an hour watching garbage on TV.
Replace that time and dedicate it to you! All you need is two bouts of 20 mins a day to make a big difference.
2.
I never really know what I am doing.
This is a major reason in the high dropout numbers in gyms.
You sign up, without a plan, and after your short lasting bout of motivation you realise that you are unsure as to where you are heading with your training and drop-out.
What can you do about it? Seek professional advice.
Get yourself a coach that can guide you and make sure you have the best care and understanding of your fitness regime.
3.
I can never stick to my training/diet plan.
This always stems from not really knowing the reasons why you are doing what you are doing.
If you have an important enough reason to be making the change in your life you will stick to the program no doubt about it.
What you can do about it? Get yourself totally clear on exactly why you want to change and why it's so important to you.
Invest in a goal achievement book to help you find your 'why' then go about sticking to and achieving those goals.
4.
I'm worried about what my friends/ family may say.
I have found this to be a massive stumbling block for most people.
I've heard many stories of friends and family poking fun or making you feel uncomfortable and have even experienced it myself.
What can you do about it? Realise that you are doing this for you and not your family.
Spend less time with the people that are likely to bring you down and surround yourself with those that are supportive of your choices.
It may be hard at first but you'll be grateful when you can fit in to that new outfit.
5.
There is too much confusion around training methods.
I agree with this one.
There are so many magazine/online articles, blogs and TV ads telling you what to do and how to do it that at times they can all contradict each other.
What can you do about it? Experiment! Find what's right for you.
If you're not gonna work with a coach and decide to go alone then be patient.
There may be proven methods out there that 'this' celebrity and 'that' celebrity have used to get in shape but is it right for you? You won't know unless you give it a chance.
Make sure you record your results so you can compare.
6.
I can't be as fit as the others guys in the gym.
Well that may be right but you're not training to be like him or her, you are training to be the best version of yourself you can be.
Who cares about them? You shouldn't because they don't care about you.
They get on with their training just the way you should.
What can you do about it? Care less about others and remind yourself of the reasons why you are there.
7.
I have no self-belief.
Self-belief or self-esteem is based on the promises you make to yourself and whether you stick to them or not.
This will affect your confidence levels and will also knock your motivation.
What can you do about it? First of all make sure you stop telling yourself lies.
If you set out to do something, get it done.
The more little successes you have the more belief you'll have in your ability to see things through.
And the more things you get done the happy you'll be within yourself.
So there you have it.
