Fish Bowl Crafts

    Decorative Crafts

    • Turn an empty fishbowl into a decorative--but practical--addition to your home using one or more of the following ideas.

Decoupage the exterior of the fish bowl with magazine clippings or strips of pages from an old book. Use the bowl as a centerpiece on a coffee table or to add visual interest to a display.

Create a necklace-style garland around the narrow neck of the fish bowl by stringing beads or buttons on a length of thread or craft wire. Wrap the garland several times around the top of the bowl and secure firmly in place. Use the bowl to house jewelry or hair clips.

Cut out magazine photos (or your child's drawings) of fish and water designs and decoupage them to the interior of the fish bowl to create a faux fish bowl scene.

Paint the fish bowl to resemble a snowman's face, a Halloween jack-o-lantern, or Santa Claus. Fill the bowl with treats and place a coordinating hat or lid on top to hide them.

Fill a set of two small fish bowls with stones and use them as book-ends on a shelf.

    Edible Fish Bowl Crafts

    • Fill your clean, new fish bowl with a handmade fish-shaped oven mitt, goldfish crackers and fish-shaped candies. Tie decorative fish tags around the outside as a gift for your favorite fish-lover.

Make a fishbowl dessert for a fish-theme birthday party by filling a new, clean fish bowl with jelly beans that resemble aquarium rocks and blueberry flavored gelatin. Add a handful of Swedish Fish candies just before the gelatin is fully set and allow the entire mixture to chill completely before serving to your surprised guests.

Stencil the word "Cookies" or "Treats" on the outside of your fish bowl using craft paint for glass surfaces, and keep your decorative bowl full of homemade goodies.
