Dilute lemon juice in a 50/50 solution with water in a spray bottle. Spray the diluted lemon juice onto your pet's fur and rub it in with your fingers. Lemon naturally repels fleas, which will cause the fleas to leave your pet's body. - 2). Add 1 tsp. of apple cider vinegar to your pet's water bowl each day. Having your pet drink the diluted cider vinegar will create a natural flea repellent, plus the cider vinegar is also good for your pet's immune system. Adjust the amount of apple cider vinegar you use according to your pet's weight: typically 1 tsp. daily per 40 lbs.

Vacuum your carpeting and upholstery daily. The vacuum will help remove fleas, eggs and larva residing in your carpet and furniture. - 4). Wash your pet's bedding and any small rugs in the hottest water possible, using heavy-duty laundry detergent. Place the items in the dryer, if possible.
- 5). Sprinkle diatomaceous earth on your carpet and your pet's clean bedding. This very fine powder is safe for humans and pets, but it will cut through the skeletons of fleas and other insects, causing them to dehydrate and die. Work the diatomaceous earth into the carpet and bedding with a broom.
- 6). Put a flea collar on your pet if the flea infestation is severe. Continue with the other steps, in conjunction with using the flea collar, until the flea infestation is gone.
