- The process of repairing a radiator with epoxy is called "cold welding," because the same goal of traditional welding is reached, but without heat. The surface must be sanded and cleaned before applying the epoxy.
- Commercial epoxies accomplish the same goal, which is to glue pieces together or fill a break or crack. Some epoxies come in a dough-like form, while others have two portions that have to be mixed just before applying.
- Epoxy can be used to fill punctures on the surface of a radiator; to "weld" the pieces of a broken hose connector or to fill the gap in an open seam or other crack.
