- 1). Use a hair dryer to blow hot air directly onto the dried gak in the carpet.
- 2). Once the gak has become soft, wrap a piece of cellophane around your hand and begin to pull pieces of gak up from the carpet. If the gak begins to harden, reheat it with the hair dryer and continue to pick up pieces of gak from the carpet.
- 3). Once you have picked all of the gak out of the carpet that you can, fill the plastic bucket about 1/3 full with warm water.
- 4). Pour a capful of laundry detergent into the bucket and swirl the bucket around to mix the detergent into the water.
- 5). Dip the soft-bristle cleaning brush into the soapy water and scrub the carpet where the gak was located. This should remove the remaining bits of gak from the carpet.
- 6). Allow the carpet to dry completely.
- 7). Repeat Steps 1 through 6 until the gak is no longer visible in the carpet.
