How to Fix the Color on a Plasma TV
- 1). Calibrate the television yourself, manually. Plasma televisions include a display menu with tools for adjusting various aspects of the video output ranging from basics like brightness to more advanced settings like color temperature. Check your television's owner's manual for instructions on how to access your particular TV's menu and for an explanation of what each setting does. Make sure that the lighting around the television is the way it will be when you plan on watching it most. For example, do not calibrate your television during the day with the windows uncovered when you plan on watching it mostly at night.
- 2). Purchase and use a plasma television calibration kit. These kits usually include a DVD and a set of instructions that will guide you through the calibration process. The DVD will display charts that you can use along with your television's integrated display adjustment tools to improve color and overall image output. This method is slightly more expensive than simply "eyeballing" for the correct settings but it does stand to produce much better results. Again, make sure that you calibrate your television under the same ambient lighting conditions you plan to watch it.
- 3). Hire a professional to calibrate your television. While certainly the most expensive option, hiring a professional could easily deliver better results than you would be able to achieve yourself. Most will use tools that precisely examine the light coming from your television in order to adjust your television's output for optimum performance. If you have the money, and do not want to spend the time fiddling with settings on your own, hiring out the job done could make sense.
