Navigating Through Facebook History

Thanks to the undying efforts of the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, the campaign for an online friendly system was produced.

Facebook was originally known as The Facebook.
After purchasing the domain name in 2005, "The" was extracted from the original name with a cost of $200,000.
Initially, membership was exclusive to the students coming from Harvard University and upon the first month of introduction of Facebook, there were about more than fifty percent of the undergrads from Harvard that was already registered to the service.
In order to promote the service further to the web surfing community, a team was formed in the names of Chris Hughes, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum and Dustin Moskovitz to be able to help Zuckerberg with his website.
It was in March 2004 wherein the service expanded through Yale, Stanford and Columbia.
The expansion further continued as it opened to majority of Ivy League organizations.
Gradually majority of the universities located in the United States and Canada also involved themselves in the website.
Facebook moved operations of its base to Palo Alto, California during the month of June year 2004.
An international headquarters was formed in Dublin, Ireland last October 2008.
A high school version of the service was launched September of 2005 wherein Zuckerberg considered it as a logical platform.

Membership of the service expanded from college and high school students to company employees, such as Microsoft and Apple.
It was then deliberately opened to everyone aged 13 and above having a valid electronic mail address on the 26th of September, 2006.
Today, the web service is now a social networking site created free for everyone.
Users are able to join the networks which are organized by school, city, region and workplace for interaction and connection to people around the globe.
Members of the service can send messages, add friends and make a personal profile of himself to be able to notify the community about their profile.
