- 1). Paddle out, heading northeast toward Denton Slough from the lake's southern shore. If coming from the north, paddle southeast along the shoreline.
- 2). Land the canoe on the shore north of Denton Slough and begin walking the shoreline north toward Green Monarch Ridge. The length of this stretch is roughly three miles.
- 3). Hike, following parallel to the Green Monarch Mountain ridge. Look for large rock outcroppings once out of the valley and when the Green Monarch Ridge bends west. The ridge will appear to be rising from the lake's shore at this point. The petroglpyphs will face the east; the first of these sites will contain roughly 30 bear paw etchings in the rock. The remaining six sites are dispersed along the northern shore.
