How to Spray Ant Killer in a Yard

    • 1). Locate the ant nest. Dab honey on an index card and place the card near where the ants are observed. After the ants have eaten the honey, they will head back to their nest, revealing the nest location.

    • 2). Shake the ant spray container well before each use. Hold the container upright and turn the nozzle around so it faces away from you.

    • 3). Hold the ant killer 12 inches from the surface.

    • 4). Spray the ant killer along the ant trail, around the perimeter of your home and other buildings, into cracks and crevices in cement and in buildings, alongside windows and doors until the surfaces are wet with insecticide. Avoid excessive wetting of asphalt, rubber, plastics and tile.

    • 5). Drench the ant nest itself with the ant killer.

    • 6). Reapply the ant killer if the ants reemerge after two or three days, or as needed.
