Lessons From Failures and Errors of Others

Once there was a well-known president, lawyer, doctor, judge, businessman or banker.
Then, all their fame, money, reputation, status and hope faded into the past because they gave into temptation, because they broke a law, because they violated the public's faith in them.
Revelations of their transgressions pop up in newspapers, on TV and on blog posts throughout cyberspace.
It is easy to give in to the desire to look down on them.
It is easy to scoff at their entire industry (which is likely how lawyer jokes started).
It is easy to condemn all movie stars, all lawyers, all doctors, all judges, all businessmen, all politicians -- because of the dastardly actions of a few.
However, there is no benefit to give in to those thoughts.
What is the best way for you to proceed? What is the best course of action for you to take? The best way you can provide value and benefit in the world and in your own community is to learn a lesson from these incidents and spread that good word.
So, instead of gossiping about this action or that individual, think of how you yourself may be hurting people and then correct your own actions.
Instead of condemning another person's disreputable actions, think of what noble actions you could take in your life.
Some of my colleagues, for example, have decided to be more lenient in refund requests -- even if the contract says 'no refunds'.
Other colleagues have decided to listen far more intently to their clients to discover what they truly want, instead of simply delivering what is easy and already created.
Learn a lesson from whatever happens in the news, and let's make the world a better place because of it.
