How to Recycle Shredding Paper in Yonkers

    • 1). Collect documents you want to shred. Remove staples, paper clips and binder clips from the papers. Remove commercial or institutional papers, as they cannot be recycled at the mobile shredder, according to the city of Yonkers. All papers must be loose leaf and unbound. You can collect a maximum of four file boxes to be shredded at a time.

    • 2). Bring un-shredded documents to the mobile shredder at the Yonkers Recycling Center on select Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. See Resources to determine which Saturday per month the shredder is available. Residents can have their confidential documents shredded prior to being recycled at the mobile shredder. Bring proof of residency; the mobile shredder service is only available to residents of Westchester County.

    • 3). Place shredded papers in bin or box for curbside collection. Check Resources to determine the date of pick-up for your specific area. Do not place paper in plastic bags, but separate papers by color. Shredded papers can also be dropped off at the Yonkers Recycling Center.
