How to Make a Spring Loaded Gun

    • 1). Cut the handle off a broom with the hacksaw. Place the broomstick horizontally on a table. Measure a foot in from the left end of the broomstick with the ruler. Make a mark with the grease pencil on the broomstick at the one-foot mark.

    • 2). Cut through the broomstick at the one-foot mark with the hacksaw. Dispose of the excess piece of broomstick. Sand the cut end of the broomstick with the sandpaper until the end is smooth.

    • 3). Draw a horizontal line 4 inches to the left of the right end of the broomstick with the grease pencil.

    • 4). Apply a line of bonding glue to the line. Line up an end of the spring with the right end of the broomstick. Place the spring on top of the broomstick. Press down on the spring to adhere it to the bonding glue. Hold the spring down for a minute. Release the spring and let the bonding glue set for a day.

    • 5). Measure six inches to the left from the right end of the broomstick. Make a dot at the six-inch mark with the grease pencil. Open the jaws of the clothespin. Place the open jaws around the broomstick where the dot was just made.

    • 6). Hold the right end of the broomstick down with your right hand. Open the jaws of the clothespin and push the left end of the spring past the open jaws of the clothespin. Let the jaws close once the spring has gone past.

    • 7). Hold the broomstick in your right hand with the spring facing up. Pull the spring that is up against the clothespin towards the right and place a foam pellet in front of it.

    • 8). Aim the front of your spring loaded toy gun at a target, for example, a tree outdoors in your backyard. Open the jaws of the clothespin with your left hand to fire the pellet at the target.
