How Air Tools Should be Used in a Welding Area

- This rule may sound obvious, but folks break it all the time. Several bad things can happen due to air tools lying on the ground, including weld splatter ruining them or the air hose, workers tripping over them or the air hose, or something falling on the tool or hose, rendering them useless.
- Before you use an air tool, especially if it is a loud one, warn nearby welders in the shop area. A loud air tool could startle the welder and cause serious mistakes or accidents.
- Never use an air tool beside or below someone who is welding. Weld splatter and sparks from the welding process put the air tool, the hose and the user at risk. Also, the welder has a dark hood on to protect his eyes from the bright UV lights and may not see you.
