Why Enforce Safety Rules

    Life or Death

    • Accidental injury is the leading cause of death among children in the United States. Safety rules prevent death.

    Physical Injury

    • Even when accidental injuries do not result in death, they still result in pain. This pain keeps kids from enjoying life. Safety rules prevent pain so that kids can have more fun.

    Emotional Injury

    • Friends and family members become emotionally hurt when loved ones are injured or killed. Following safety rules helps prevent hurt feelings.

    Separation

    • Safety rules prevent kids or parents from becoming lost or separated from one another in the wilderness or in a crowd.

    Freedom

    • When safety rules are in place and followed, kids have more freedom to do the things they want to do. Without safety rules, many activities would be off-limits.
