How to Remove Mold From a Rug

    • 1). Sprinkle baking soda all over the affected area to cover it completely.

    • 2). Allow the baking soda to sit on the stain for three to four hours. If you can, leave it overnight.

    • 3). Vacuum the baking soda in the morning; the baking soda will help to dry out the mold by absorbing all of the moisture. Be sure to dispose of the vacuum cleaner bag or empty the canister immediately to get the mold out of your home.

    • 4). Mix white vinegar and water in equal parts in a spray bottle and spray any residual mold stain to dampen it.

    • 5). Allow the solution to sit on the stain for at least 15 minutes.

    • 6). Dip a clean cloth in warm, soapy water and gently scrub the area until the stain is gone.

    • 7). Place a fan nearby to help the area to dry quickly.
