Stop Thinking, Start Doing
A popular slogan of shoe manufacturing giant-Nike say: "Just do it" They have touched the lives of millions of sports men and women world wide with their slogan.
The process of implementing viable ideas remains one of the most difficult tasks some individuals face in their daily lives.
It must be understood, that ideas without action are worthless.
So the question is: How do we convert our thoughts and ideas into concrete actions? Step 1 Stop Procrastination Coming up with ideas is often time easy, but implementing these ideas, is the main issue.
Procrastination is the number one killer of destiny.
When one lingers too much on a particular task, it may create so many vacuums.
We must understand that delay always breeds danger.
Step 2 Apply what you learn Knowing is not enough, we must apply whatsoever we learn.
To be willing is not enough; we must learn how to do! The world we live in, can only be grasped by action, not by contemplation.
The secret of success is talking less and doing more! Step 3 Keep on doing what is right even if you fail initially We must proceed to the next level, which is the level of doing! Some footballers do the playing with their tongues, while others prefer to remain quiet and choose to do the talking on the field of play.
In my experience, any virtue translated into action leads almost invariably to positive results.
This applies to integrity, persistence, courtesy, love and courage.
I have always liked the advice of an old man to his grandson.
"Act boldly and unseen forces will come to your aid.
" That should be our attitude in whatever we do.
Even if after doing what we feel is the right thing, and it turns out wrong, we must keep trying.
Step 4 Never be afraid to do what is right When you are afraid of undertaking a new venture, just go ahead and "Do It" Never be afraid of failure, as it is part of the success equation.
Failure is a sign of progress, a sign that something is being done.
I am always amazed at the high work rate of my friends from Germany.
They do complain about the long hours our management team in Nigeria spends holding meetings, without any corresponding action.
On their part, their meetings do not last for more than one hour, and they head to the field to do what they are paid to do.
Step 5 Apply the DIN Factor In order for us to succeed in life, we have to employ the DIN factor.
Simply put, DO IT NOW! It is a principle that has kept successful people succeeding for generations.
Do you need to go for a course to advance your present position? I once knew a man who was employed as a level three officer in the firm I worked, and never rose above the rank of a junior officer before he retired thirty five years later.
It was such a pathetic example of someone who failed to apply the DIN Factor.
In summary, we need to understand that success is closely linked to action.
Successful people keep moving.
They make mistakes, but they do not quit.
