Kids Are Fighting Back!

You know as well as I do a fight can draw a crowd.
So why would you bring hundreds of 7th and 8th graders from local schools, all over the area, together in one place? What is the fight about? It's involving our youth in the "fight" against drugs and alcohol use.
My twins are in middle school this year and will get to attend a special night.
We have an incredible auto dealership in town that donates their facility, once a year on a Saturday night for the youth event.
Other community business come together and donate the music, games, food and skate ramp.
Each student has bracelet on and their school id.
They acknowledge they are there to have fun and are committed to making healthy life choices.
There are no hats, backpacks, purses or gang attire permitted.
Volunteers serve great food, fun and entertainment - they help set up and clean up.
Hip Hop, R & B and the Old Style music echoes in the main building.
The local radios station offers their most popular dj.
What more can you ask for? A community that shows they care about our youth and lead by example.
It almost makes you wish you were in middle school again.
Back in my day, we didn't have this kind of event.
High fives all the way around to every, business, volunteer and community leader that makes this event Fun, Safe and FREE! P.
S.
I volunteered last year.
I was stationed at the obstacle course.
A wonderful time was had by all.
