Windows Vista - First Impressions

Well its been one month, and I've been putting Windows Vista through its paces.
I was a reluctant user, but because so many of my clients were upgrading, I thought it best to try it out for myself.
So how was my first months experience? This is one of the better operating system releases that Microsoft has done in recent years.
It's definitely just a little better, and a little different than Windows XP, but not vastly different.
For once Microsoft seems to have released an operating system that doesn't need a year of patches to be usable.
It seems to be stable and usable from day one, I've been using it for over a month, and I havent seen it crash yet.
It choked a little bit on my graphics card driver, but then there was a new driver especially suited for Vista, and it seems to work fine now.
The most evident changes is the User Interface, it's quite a bit different than the XP version.
With the very tight integration with Internet Explorer 7, it seems that Vista is more capable than ever at multi-tasking.
The gadgets are really cool too, and I can't wait to see what new and interesting gadgets are developed for Vista in the near future.
You just have to get your hands on it, to see the difference, words can't really adequately describe it.
What's interesting is that Vista comes with voice recognition right out of the box.
You can actually use Vista with just your voice.
I played around with it a bit, and while its definitely not as usable as the Dragon software, it still can be helpful.
The problem is hardware requirements.
Vista is a beast when it comes to hardware.
The more you got the better it performs.
I find that Vista loves memory, and a fast video card is essential as well.
I wouldn't bother with Vista unless I had a computer that was made in the last year or so that had at least 1GB of memory.
I played with it, when I took most of my memory out, and left 256MB in the machine, and it almost ground to a halt.
So after one month of Vista, I have to say, I'm pretty pleased.
It's a very fine release from Microsoft that I believe will prove to be quite popular.
It's probably not worth it to spend money to upgrade as it's not that different from XP.
But, is a great choice for any new computers that you purchase.
