How to Install an RV TV Antenna

    • 1). Climb on the roof after checking the package to make sure you have all the pieces. Find the ideal location for the antenna. The best place is near the refrigerator vent because you will run the wiring down it.

    • 2). Line the roofing stud so it is overlapping the front edge of the mounting plate. Drill a pilot hole through the roof and ceiling. Enlarge the hole to 1/2 inch, keeping the hole straight.

    • 3). Remove any insulation from the hole. Use the template to position where the second 1/2-inch hole goes for the coaxial cable. The cable may already be installed by the manufacturer.

    • 4). Lower the antenna into position, putting the drive shaft through the 1/2-inch hole in the roof. Place the travel support so when it is lowered the mounting plate rests flush on the roof's surface.

    • 5). Drill 3/32-inch holes in the roof, and apply caulk. Screw the travel support into place.

    • 6). Center the drive shaft in the ceiling hole from inside the RV. Mount the ceiling plate and cut off the excess shaft. File off the burr.

    • 7). Install the crank handle on to the shaft. With a drill bit, dimple the shaft and tighten the set screw.

    • 8). Fit the coaxial cable connector into the blue box without bending the wires. Use the cable ties to attach the cable to the boom and leg.

    • 9). Caulk the underside of the mounting plate when the antenna is up. Lower the unit into the hole so the drive shaft is under the ceiling plate.

    • 10

Drill holes and caulk around the ceiling plate, making sure the cable is correctly positioned.

    • 11

Run a minimum of 36 inches of cable between the cable tie and cable entry on the mounting plate and caulk well.

    • 12

Raise the antenna. When fully raised, turn the crank in the opposite direction at least half of a turn before pushing it up, still turning slightly. This will engage the rotate pin. Hold the crank and turn to the left. Pull the crank down to disengage the rotate pin.
