Blogging For Customers

OK! You've decided to start a business.
You have determined what skills, knowledge, or products potential customers might pay you for.
Now all you need is .
.
.
well .
.
.
customers (or at least prospective customers.
)  Now it's time to decide HOW you are going to reach out to your potential customers.
I firmly believe that blogging is one of the most effective ways for any Internet business to reach out to people.
  • If you have created a business plan outline based on what you know to be your strengths and your areas of knowledge or skill,
  • If you have outlined how they might become something for which people will pay,
  • If you have engaged in some form of customer analysis; who are your potential customers and how can you reach them,
then you already know what you need to know to blog effectively.
As I said, I am convinced that the most effective way to reach potential customers or clients on the Internet is by blogging.
Blogging  provides you with the best platform to meet and communicate with your potential customers.
Here are some of my reasons:
  1. If necessary, to begin with, you can blog for free.
  2. You don't have to build a complicated web site.
  3. Blogging enables you to establish an actual relationship with potential customers, something an ordinary sales oriented web page/site does not do.
  4. Blogging services and software are free.
  5. Training and advice on setting up and using a blog is readily available as is support for blog sites and blogging software.
  6. eCommerce capabilities can be added to a blog if you should need them.
Finally, I want briefly to touch on the third reason I listed above.
If you owned a brick and mortar store, you would create customers by greeting and communicating with the people who came into your store about their interests and needs.
My years of teaching sales skills for Apple Computer taught me that business happens between people who have a relationship of mutual knowledge and trust.
Your blog will be the vehicle that you will use to make that happen.
